Today is a New Day

Today is a new day.  Today is Friday which means that it is Team Friday with Stacey-Lee at Get On With It Already, Things I Know with Miss Cinders at Saturday Morning Ogre Mum and FYBF with Grace at With Some Grace - why not join in with any of these lovely ladies and find some new and exciting blogs to read ?

Today I know that I haven't been able to finish either of the challenges for November for #bacnov3030challenge or #operationMOVE - not for want of trying - but because my body betrayed needs to heal itself.

Today I know that I am learning to love and accept myself more and more each day -  for who I am and how I look.

Today I know that eating a good healthy range of foods means that I have more energy to sit on the couch doing nothing but let my body heal and don't suffer from the 3pm slumps anymore.

Today I know that cutting sugar, wheat and dairy out of what I eat makes me feel so good. (Does this mean I will never eat these foods again ?  No, but it does mean that I have learned that when I eat these foods I don't feel that great and so eating them on special occasions is allowed, even encouraged, provided I can deal with how I feel afterwards !!!!)

Today I know that tomorrow I have my 5th appointment with the osteo in 2 weeks and I have to stay confident that he can help me.

Today I know that even though my 'baby' is 20 yo, she still wants her Mom when she is sick.

Today I know that our car just clocked over 200,000kms and we are probably going to have to start looking for a new one.

Today I know that last night I went to a camera class and learned even more about my camera - I am planning to have some more play dates with it this weekend (especially as A is working on Sunday).

Today I know that I need to be more diligent with my gratitude journal - it is a journal that I NEED to make the time to 'write' in every day because EVERY DAY there IS a list of things that I am grateful for.

TFTD : An essential aspect of long term success is not being afraid to fail in the short term.
(This is totally for me today - I know I shouldn't look at an injury as failure but that is mostly how I feel !!!)

  1. Today I know that life is a big journey full of plenty of highs and lows, but as long as you live each day trying to be the best you can be it will be amazing overall.
    That is in regards to being healthy, and eating well to. When you notice how good eating well can make you feel it makes so much sense to treat your body well, (indulgences now and then are fine too). Good luck at the osteo :-)

  2. Sorry to hear that you are still healing, at least you are healing though and I know that after this rest you will come back stronger than before. Perhaps not the same as before and maybe in with a limitation here and there, but the inside, the core of your being will be stronger as it carried you through the tough times.
    A camera class sounds like fun, something I have been meaning to look into, as soon as I have a spare penny or two! Fairy wishes and butterfly kisses for a lovely weekend.

      Luckily the camera classes haven't cost me anything as they are offered by the shop where we bought the camera.

    1. Thanks Kirsty ! I look forward to showing off my new camera skills when I think there is something worth showing - LOL !! On Sunday I will see if I can get to the botanical gardens and see what I can find there.

  4. I did actually think that I should be super healthy in the lead up to Christmas to help me not overdo things, but it hasn't quite happened. So I will just need to remember to not eat and drink like it's my last week on earth :) Good luck with the osteo.

That is a great description - try not to eat and drink like it's my last week on earth - definitely that is what I am going to be working on hence our going on to dinner on Christmas Eve instead of having Christmas lunch at home - no leftovers - just normal food in the house !! (That is the plan anyway !!)

  5. Today? My sis listened to me and she never listens to me. Today, I went for a run and felt good. Today I hugged my mum, today I'm going to spend time with my daughter after school and spoil her a bit. Today I read yr blog and ii think u are doing well in yr life honey.

    1. How cool for you !!! I love hearing that other people run and feel good when they are finished. Gotta love spoiling our children when we can - tonight my daughter will spoil me because it is her turn to cook !!!

  6. I'm preparing my body by walking every day 30-45 mins and I'm determined to have the self control to stick to healthy foods, vege juices and green tea.I'm trying to eat more healthily too.

    PS - Have you seen the Gratitude is attitude Photo challenge for Dec at Mum's Lounge.

  7. Today I know that we will always be tested, it is how we choose to react in these times that will see us through. Glad to hear that your injury has not stopped the healthy eating regime and you are looking after you x

  8. Sitting on the couch is okay to do because your body is healing, it's not being lazy.

    I haven't written in my gratitude journal for a long time, and I really should. Keeping my mind positive I think goes hand in hand with my journal.

    I think Trish has a great idea to join up the Gratitude is Attitude photo challenge! Imagine having a whole month of pics in your journal instead of words!
