I'm Still Here

I cannot believe how quickly time is going.  I used to think that it was because I was getting older but even some younger people that I have spoken to have said how quickly time is passing.  I wonder if maybe 1 second is no longer taking 1 second to pass - maybe it's really only 1/2 second and so what we previously knew as 1 minute is actually only 1/2 minute ?  Oh, I may just bring my mind back from wherever it was going with this train of thought.

The paperwork is all signed.  Today the contract on our place goes unconditional.  And, three weeks on Friday we move - eeeeeeeek - that is just around the corner.  Having said that I am quite glad we have a reasonably quick settlement as it means we can get on with the adventure in our new home and all that building entails !!

If only I didn't have so many things on at the moment I could get heaps more packing done.  Monday night we went to the Suns v Essendon NAB challenge game.  While we were very scrappy in the first two quarters, they seemed to pull their fingers out in the second half and, in the dying seconds of the game kicked a behind to win by 1 point.  A real nail biter for the first game of the year but I think it would have done their confidence the world of good - being able to come back like that after the start that they had, shows their commitment to winning.  In some ways I feel a bit like that - we seem to have struggled for a while with the whole house thing and now we are so close to the end and being able to pull it all off - we just need to get through the next couple of weeks before things can settle down again.

I am trying to get around to read blogs but haven't been as successful as I would have liked.  Please don't think I have forgotten about you, I haven't, I'm just running short on time.  I am trying to get ahead of my work so that the time I take off when we move, isn't made more stressful by knowing that I left work undone in the office.  We had already planned on going away in April and we have canned that trip - it was just getting too hard trying to tie it in with the move and finances.  We are hoping to get down to Melbourne for a weekend while we are off in April but will wait and see if that happens or not.

Have the best day that you can !

Do you have any tips to share about moving ?
Especially if you have lived somewhere
over 13 years and are married to a hoarder.

TFTD : Always go with the choice that scares you the most, because that's the one that is going to help you grow.

    1. We are still having some back and forths with the building report from our place so it's close but we aren't over the line just yet - come 5pm today, I will certainly breathe a whole lot easier !!!

  2. YAY! That is soo exciting. Good luck with the move - it's a total hassle but really only a few days work. (well, maybe a few weeks). As for the hoarder, get a tonne of boxes and let him pack and unpack it all. I'm a hoarder. After awhile the unpacked box sits there for so long you just chuck it all. But you need to be left to make that decision...
Look forward to the pics once the dust has settled.

    1. I hear you about the hoarding - I have said to him he needs to pack up the garage, shed and the stuff around the outside of the house - anything he wants to keep, goes into the shed - NOT the garage and NOT the house. I'm sure that over time he will just get rid of the boxes that he hasn't opened as well.
Will definitely post some pics once we get a chance to take them !!!

  3. I am married to a hoarder too and I have to admit that I kind of hoard books myself so I dread to think of the packing if we ever make it out of Boganville. Anyway, just visualise yourself sipping a glass of wine in your lovely new home. You'll get there! xo

    1. LOL - I couldn't believe how many books we have managed to accumulate. At first we had a little children's book case - that was over flowing so we had one built - floor to ceiling, about 1,2m wide and it had 6 shelves - before we put the house on the market, I took the double row of books off each shelf. I have just packed the rest of them away and everywhere is just boxes marked BOOKS !!
Great idea - must keep my eye on the end result !!
      Have a great weekend !

    1. Actually in some ways I'm glad it's a short settlement so we can get it over and down with sooner rather than later. Will be interesting to see how much we get done this weekend - both of us at home packing !!!
      Have a wonderful weekend !

  6. Moving does suck but it is so exciting going to a new place. Also gives you the best opportunity to declutter! Hope it all goes well. V.

    1. I am enjoying the de-cluttering - well the bits that I am able that A isn't grabbing off the pile saying "No - we can't get rid of that - I may need it at some point in the future" !!!!!
Definitely lots of excitement at the prospect of a new home.
      Have the best weekend !

  7. Hey there! It's been ages since I sat down and read some blogs, and how exciting to hear that you have sold your house and bought a new one, and building is going to be progressing (for your folks, right?).
Wishing you all the best with the move (getting the crappy stuff over so you can enjoy the fun stuff!!).
We will have to head to a Suns game this year - maybe Suns v Lions. I really want to see GA junior in action - when I was a teenager the original Gary Ablett was my absolute fave!!
    Good luck with it all

    1. Yes, we are building for my folks - actually sometimes I think they are more excited than us at the prospect of moving and living closer to us !!!!
He is amazing to watch - especially when he is having a good game and isn't too quiet - although it's good to see how the others step up when he is a little quieter than normal. We didn't follow AFL until the Suns started up and then we got interested and now we are hooked !!!!
Thank you for your wishes !!!
      Have a wonderful weekend.
