This is a rant and a 'woe is me' post so feel free to click away now - I won't be offended.
Work has been crazy this week but that is mainly because I have been filling in at Inala for the accounts lady who had to go to a funeral in Wagga.
Driving over an hour to work and back in the afternoon is for the birds - I can't stand it !
Getting back to the office today and being ignored and then told the wrong information is very annoying.
Getting a phone call from A to say that the dogs have dug under the fence of the small veranda where they are and then got out of the fence that we thought we had dog proofed SUCKS BIG BALLS.
Having to tie them up on a long rope is all I can think of to do with them to keep them in our yard. A is talking about having to get the collars for them that will zap them when they get close to the fence - hopefully the zap will be big enough to make them stay inside and not enough to hurt them.
I should have been going up to visit A this weekend but for return flights of $210 plus accommodation and meals, it probably isn't the best time to be spending $500-$600 on a 'nice to have' - I'll just have to suck it up and hang in for the next two weeks until he gets home. There are too many things around the house we have to pay for.
I got the latest set of plans for the granny flat. Not sure who told the draughtsman about changes to be made because I see that there are still two bathrooms in there.
Looking forward to going home today and tackling the long grass with the ride on tomorrow - here's hoping I manage to stay on it and don't tip over down the hills !!!
Joining in with Ann from Help ! I 'm Stuck for Things I Know Friday !!
Have the best day.
TFTD : Goals are big question marks that as you, "Are you going to be a wimp or are you going to be strong today ?" (Between you and me, I feel like a wimp today !!!)
I think an electronic 'fence' is a good idea! The zap a dog gets DOES hurt, that is why it WORKS! Teddy wears an anti-bark collar and he NEVER barks now because it zaps him something rotten when he does forget and starts barking! The little shit knows if I take it off for a while he can bark, AND he does. so, it' goes back on pretty swiftly.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny - we took the collars off and they still didn't go anywhere near the fence - clearly they learned their lesson within the first two days and have stayed in the yard ever since !

Those naughty dogs. We had to stuff timber under our fences to stop our dogs getting out. 2 weeks will fly by!!
ReplyDeleteI hope next week is a lot better for you.
ps I linked this for you!!
We put timber under and they dug it out :( We even put wood across the bottom and cable tied it to the fence (with steel cable ties) - they just dug under that wood as well !!! Now they have the collars on - they stay inside !

Nothing wrong with a good old fashioned rant. I hope you got to take all your frustrations out on the lawn. Have a wonderful week and I hope it is much better than the last one :)
ReplyDeleteThank you !

here's hoping you had a good, relaxing weekend. xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Jen - it was !

A ride on mower sounds fun xx
ReplyDeleteIt is when I'm not worrying about tipping over down the banks !!

Oh that drive sounds horrendous! I bet the traffic was awful. I hope you had a lovely weekend and plenty of fun on the ride on :) x
ReplyDeleteThat drive is just horrible. Thankfully the ride is on more fun when I am not worrying about falling down the banks !!

I'm sorry you are having a woe is me day (but you are allowed, I know) - I also think if you are having a woe is me day, then maybe you need the 'nice to have' visit to A.
ReplyDeleteThat drives sounds like it sucks - audio books?
Audio books are a great idea - will have to look into it next time I have to go up there. Thanks for that !

Hope you had a relaxing weekend. Life always feels better with fresh cut lawns. Hope those dogs are behaving xx
ReplyDeleteWhat is it with fresh cut lawns - it always makes me feel heaps better when the grass has been cut. The dogs are behaving now they have the collars on - no escape artists left in our home !!

Oh that drive sounds horrible. I don't mind driving, but only if it's on long country roads. I can't stand the start-stop of peak hour traffic. Hope that writing this post was cathartic for you and you feel a bit better now. Have a relaxing weekend lovely. xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you lovely lady !!! I don't particularly enjoy driving - A ALWAYS drives when we are in the car - I have been known to nod off in a 20min ride !!!!!

Just quietly, if you do buy a set of zapping collars and find they don't work - I will take them off your hands. May be a new way to keep the kids close when out in public. Hope next week runs more smoothly for you!
ReplyDeletePMSL - unfortunately for you (although probably fortunately for your children) the collars work an absolute treat so can't pass them on to you !!!
DeleteMe xox
PS - I'm sure your kids will thank me - especially as I've seen how the dogs react to getting zapped !!!!
I'm sure I left a comment on this post last week, but now I can't see the comment! Hope you are well lovely and you're having a relaxing weekend. xx
ReplyDeleteSorry - that was me being slack. I need to find where to change the setting about posting comments after a particular time frame.
DeleteThank you for checking in on me - have the best weekend !

You could stuff bricks under the fence (less attractive to termites). I feel your pain. I used to have a terrier cross who could climb a five foot fence like a monkey. I'm sure that thing had opposable toes. I have a half hour commute both ways every day and that's bad enough you poor thing :) Hope your week improves.
ReplyDeleteWe tried using bessa blocks - somehow the little bugger (because it's only one who digs and then they tag team each other to be able to get under the fence) manages to get her paws around the blocks and move them enough so they can get through - scratched and bleeding - but through none the less !!!
DeleteThanks for stopping by.

I am positive I commented on this post last week but I can't see it?? It mustn't have gone through for some reason. Well I hope you've sorted those dogs out by now... devils. I like Lydia's suggestion of audio books. I bought a Dummy's Guide to Learning Italian CD once for my commute. I still can't speak Italian though. It became too boring :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I like Lydia's idea - going to give it a try next time I have to go up there.
DeleteLuckily we got the collars and they work like a dream - no more escaping dogs or phone calls to let us know some kind neighbour has them !!!
Have a wonderful weekend !

ReplyDeleteUgggh hate those days when it all just goes south instead of north.
That's exactly right - thankfully they seem to be heading more north than south lately !!!
DeleteHave a great weekend !
