I Must Confess

This week I am joining in with Kirsty from My Home Truths and, even if there was a prompt this week, I wouldn't need it because this has been weighing on my mind since Friday and I need to get it off my chest.  I have fallen off the Guns, Buns and Abs Challenge !!

On Friday, my lower back was sore and I thought I would skip the leg lifts but do the squats and push-ups - I didn't.  I got home and A got home soon after and I spent the evening sitting on the couch with him.

On Saturday - we got up and had breakfast.  Went off to an osteo appointment and then drove around looking at houses.  We got home, had dinner and spent the evening on the couch watching footy and cricket.

On Sunday - we got up, had breakfast and A did the pre-course reading that he had to for the course he is on Monday - Wednesday this week.  I sat and watched Grey's and crocheted.  When he was finished we went to Flight Centre to pick up our docs for our holiday to Tasmania, only to find that one of the flights had had a time change so instead of leaving Launceston at 2pm - we were leaving at 9.30am - so we landed up changing our flight home to the following day - and then had to change our car hire and insurance - and the guy who booked it all for us wasn't in, so none of that could be finalised.  So we left there and A wanted to look at buying me some more warm clothes as the stuff we bought when we went to NZ won't fit me. I won't spend any more money on clothes that I will use for just over two weeks.  I did land up getting a pair of thermal pants that were on special for $15.  From there we went down to Currumbin Valley to look at properties - found a couple of places but considering they ranged in price from $1,2m to $1,750m - as nice as they were, they are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out of our price range (which is a little sad as the one especially looked just perfect for all of us !!!)  Oh well, we will continue to look.

Had to stop at KMart to get bricketts for the fire as A was cooking a pork roast.  I spent a fair bit of the afternoon sleeping in the car - we got home and I went and got into bed and A woke me up at about 7pm to say that dinner was ready.  He had cooked the veggies, warmed up some of the roast veggies from last night and done the pork - he really is a keeper this guy !!!!!

Anyway, that was that - after eating dinner there was no ways I was going to do 115 squats, 12 push ups and 75 leg lifts so another day passed with no exercise from me.

I'd like to say that from today I will be back into the swing of things, but I'm not sure.  Am thinking I need to get some help and motivation from somewhere.  Maybe I should try to rope A into doing the exercise with me.  He has done really well and has lost just on 10kgs in the 4 weeks since he left home - if I didn't love him so much I would hate him for being able to just cut out sugar / soft drinks and lose weight like that !!!!!!  I love that he is losing the weight because it will be so much better for him but hate that I am trying so hard and putting the weight on.  Again, it's something I just have to accept until we work out why I am putting the weight on and then change things so that it comes off instead.

Have a great week and look after yourselves !

Have you got something to confess ?

  4. Oh me! I went back to the gym yesterday after a whopping 5 weeks away.. I can't even tell you the wheezy, gasping, sweaty state I was in! And yes, I've been cursing myself for letting it go so long, but this morning I decided to pat myself on the back, because I DID GO BACK , and that is what is important.
On another note .. wow 1.75 mill , that makes me want to vomit in my socks - yikes!!

    1. Good for you - well done !!! I think sometimes that first time back is the hardest. I was going to exercise this afternoon but after shopping and then waiting for A to get home, popping over to see my folks and then coming home to do dinner and eat - I forgot and after dinner there was no way I was going to be doing leg lifts or push-ups !!!
Yeah - $1.75m was never going to be an option for us - but oh man, it was a lovely place !!!
      Have the best week !

  5. It's important to have rest days - or in my case, rest years - to give your body time to recuperate, and reduce the risk of injury, so don't stress the days off! Sounds like you had a lovely weekend too :)

    1. Thank you - I have enjoyed the rest days although I am not so sure that I should actually have rest days when I don't do that much anyway !!!!
We had a great weekend - so enjoying having A at home for a while.

  6. I agree with Bec - you had a great time with your hubster and that is what really counts.

Must be a reason why you're not losing weight with all you are doing to try and shift it - what does the doctor say? There are so many conditions that can do this - thyroid, etc.

    1. The dr has now recommended that I go to a dietician - I am off to see her on Wednesday. I have had blood tests that have ruled thyroid out. Will see what the dietician has to say and then take it from there.

  10. I have had a bucketload of treatment with my back, you mentioned that your lower back is sore, that is telling me that you need to let up on the exercise or at the very least make adjustments as to how you are doing them. Take care. xxx

    1. You are right Rae - I need to adjust how I am doing the leg lifts because I think that is where the ache is originating from.

  11. Who cares about the challenge when you got to spend the whole weekend with A! That's what's important, don't beat yourself up about the other stuff - you will get back to it, I know you will!

  12. Sounds like you still had a super busy weekend! With A being away you probably enjoyed just being with him which is so important for our wellbeing too! Surrounding ourselves with people we love is the best xx

    1. That is so true - I am realising that spending the time with him is just as important for me as exercising and that it is OK to come back to the exercises. He truly is an amazing man and maybe I should treat him as such !!!!

  13. I'm so with you on this too. Everyday I think about doing more exercise or eating right but never do. I write a post about it hoping it will somehow make me accountable or that the words will sink into my subconscious and make it happen. Where's that switch that can just turn me into an exercise loving health nut? I really want one! V.

  14. I wouldn't stress too much. It's not good exercising every day. Your body needs a break and sometimes that is worth more to your body than the exercise. You are going well so don't beat yourself up about it. Plus with the holiday coming, this will give you some added motivation.

  15. I really struggle with exercise. I just find it so deathly, deathly dull. If you find some magical way to motivate yourself for gawd's sake do share :)
