A New Beginning ?

There are always excuses aren't there ?  Why I can't eat healthy food.  Why I can't exercise.  Why I can't stop myself for stuffing my face.  Why I can't, why I can't, why I can't.

Tonight I've decided that I can.

I can make the right choices for me.

I can eat healthy food and I can stop eating junk.

I can love myself.

I can think of myself as a success and not a failure.

I can take it one minute at a time, one hour at a time, one meal at a time, one grocery shop at a time.

I can get back to looking like I did in these photos.

December 2005 when we went
to visit A in Taiwan

April 2009 when we were on
our way to Yamba - I was training
for the GC 10km race in June 09

(OK maybe not the top photo - A thinks I am too thin in that photo.  So much so when I got off the plane and he saw me, as soon as he could talk to me without K hearing he asked my why I hadn't told him I was sick !!!  I told him because I hadn't been sick, I'd been trying to lose weight !!!  Plus that was 8.5yrs ago and I should be realistic about what weight I can get to.)

I can do anything I want - I just need to have a plan and a plan of attack.

I can exercise and get fit and run another 10km race.  And then I can keep on running and run a half marathon and then a full marathon.

I can stop complaining about how my knee hurts and then I can find a doctor who will be able to help me - but first I can lose some weight because I am sure that my weight has a heap to do with my knee pain.

I can, I can, I can - it's up to me to do it because I know that, no matter how much support I get, it is only me who can do it.

So for today, I can love myself and be the best that I can be until tomorrow, and then I can love myself tomorrow and be the best I can be tomorrow, and the next day and the day after that - if I just take it one minute at a time.

Have the best day that you can !

  4. Great photos. You know what, you are doing what you can, but you also have to live and enjoy life (I am not the diet supportive friend, I'm afraid, I'm an enabler!). As long as you try, it's ok. If you slip here and there, that's also ok. Because you can always try again!

    1. Exercise is definitely addictive - when I was running, I would get home from work and 5/7 nights I used to run - man I would get so cranky if for some reason I couldn't run. THAT is where I want to get back to.

I was meant to read this today lovely - I have been making every excuse under the sun and recently given up and stacked on a lot of weight, a mixture of tiredness, stress etc. But this morning as I cuddled my wee babes I realised that I'm being selfish, I HAVE to life a long and healthy life for them, just as much for me, THEY need me! Baby steps for us lovely, we can do it!

  27. My favourite quote at the moment is: start from here, use what you have, do what you can. For me, it means, forget the times you may have tried (and failed) before and forget getting back to who you used to be (or what you used to look like). Focus on becoming a great, new version of you. It's so, so tough and yes, there are ALWAYS excuses (I'm the queen of being 'too busy' and 'too tired'!) so good on you for taking all of your small positive steps.

  28. I'm with you on this. Everything takes time if you just give it a little dedication. I had severe knee problems and 2 knee reconstructions. For ages I put off exercising because of that - always scared, always pain, always an excuse. Then I just got to it and now I'm training for a marathon with very little pain and super contented!
