Fitness Friday

Gosh, how quickly does Friday come around - it seems like I am only posting one or two blogs a week lately but that is OK because it means that I am interacting more with my family which is what living is about.  Isn't it ?????

Anyway, linking in with B at bbeingcool who has been sick this past week and I hope is well on the way to be fine again soon !!!!
My exercise for this week was :
Friday - 5.12km run 32:56
Sunday - 8.32km run 54:48
Tuesday - 30 mins personal training
Wednesday - 12.16km run 1:26:56 (my first long run with only 2 x 10m walks in it !!!)
Thursday - 30 mins personal training

I should have run on Monday but I got home, had a client and when I was finished with her I just couldn't be bothered - I felt tired and so I decided to give my body a rest which I believe was the best thing I could have done.  I did the long run on Wednesday night which I may not have done if I had of run on Monday night.

Once again my eating has not been great - why, why, why can't I get my head in the right head space - where it used to be when I was doing so well with my food ??????  Is it because A's work is all over the show - sometimes home, sometimes not, sometimes working at night, sometimes during the day - I don't know from one day to the next whether he is going to be home or not because their plans change to frequently.  Who would think that a company the size they are could be so disorganised.  On the up side he has his finish date - 31 August - times in really well with us getting back from holiday on 24th August - 5 days left for him to clear up any loose ends.  Alternatively, he will have found something else to move to and can come back from holiday and start at a new company.  Whichever way it goes, it will be fine.

I think I am just using his work as an excuse for not being a*sed about meals and I need to get myself back on track - soon !  Cheese on toast or a tin of soup have become staples for me for dinner !!!  I will try this long weekend to get more organised with my meals but not making any promises !!!!

GC Suns play St Kilda tomorrow - definitely not a game I think we have any chance of winning unless St Kilda turn up with only half a team.  It really is becoming frustrating that the Suns can't get a win under the belt - just a couple for the year would be fantastic guys !!!!

Have the best Friday possible - I will try to get around to other Fitness Friday blogs as soon as I can !

TFTD : Take up one idea.  Make that one idea your life - think of it, dream of it, live on that idea.  Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone.   This is the way to success, that is the way great spiritual giants are produced - Swami Vivekananda Quotes  (Maybe this is what I need to do about my food / eating !!!)

  1. oh honey - credit where credit is due! You exercised five days out of seven - MASSIVE! AND LOOK AT YOUR 12KM RUN!!! you are a powerhouse!

Just like you have built up exercise to be such a part of your daily routine, and who you are, I really have faith that you will do the same with your food and eating habits!

We won't ever be perfect, but you are totally getting there and on a great path - you are such an inspiration xx

    1. Thanks Lyndal - no exercise today - too busy sitting in my pj's watching TV !!! But tomorrow I will get back to it.

I hope you managed to get warm (and that you didn't pee your pants) !!!

      Talk to you soon.

  2. I think 5 days out of 7 is a good balance for exercise. I think there is such a thing as over-doing it. And especially if one day is a massive run like your 12kms!!

As for the food, what about frozen weight watchers-type meals? I know there's a few different brands, but they would be better than cheese on toast! Or can you do some slow cooker meals and freeze them for the week? You will figure something out I'm sure! You're doing so great with your exercise, you can probably afford to slack off with the food once in a while!

    1. Thanks A. I am starting to learn that it is OK to have two rest days instead of one - I generally plan to only have one but if I listen to my body instead of my head, I think 2 days rest is OK.

Thanks also for the reminder about a slow cooker - I have two !!!! Tomorrow I plan to do some grocery shopping and get a whole bunch of stuff to cook in the slow cooker and then freeze so I just need to take it out in the morning and maybe cook some rice - THANK YOU !!!!

I have been thinking about getting some My Fit Fridge meals in - just haven't got organised enough to do anything about it. Basically I just been really slack in the food and eating department but this weekend I want to change it around.

I was trying to do the really good eating Mon-Fri so I could slack off over the weekend but lately it has been slack Mon-Sun !!!!

Take care and thanks again for the suggestions.

  3. You ran for 12km - that is amazing!

If you can run that far on the food you are eating, I wouldn't be beating myself up... It seems your fitness is improving, so let that be your guide. I have been sugar free for nearly a month and I cannot believe how little I eat. It has made me realise that as a culture, we eat way too much food in general.

Thanks for the 'well' wishes, I am feeling better. Hoping to be feeling remarkably better tomorrow, fingers crossed.

Thanks also for linking in again with #teamfriday. I really appreciate your support and am so encouraged by your posts.

    1. Thanks B. I keep thinking about giving up sugar but I just don't think I am ready mentally to do that. I have noticed the past week or so that have little protein and lots carbs at lunch time has seen me having the 3pm slump again - really need to get my meeals sorted. When I was doing the 500cal/day I never had those slumps.

Glad you are feeling better - hope that it is all gone by now.

Take care and enjoy the long weekend.

    1. If only there was an icon on Runkeeper for plodders - because I think I am more of a plodder than a runner Jen !!!
      Have a great weekend.

  5. Hello, again am massively impressed by your running. I am sure your body must be needing lots of food to keep it fuelled up to do the exercise. But proper meals always best - sez I!! Not the best myself, but I try to have a big pot of something in the fridge that I can eat when I need it. My husband is away for a long time so I am used to working out the food for me and the kids without worrying about him. But when he gets back I get thrown.

Take it easy and keep inspiring me with your running!! Just back from 30 mins sweating at gym.

    1. Thanks Seana - as I said to Jen - maybe I should call myself a plodder rather than a runner !
Coloursofsunset reminded me of my slow cooker - so tomorrow and Monday I want to have a big cook up so that we do have healthy nutritious foods available that just need to be heated.
A used to work away in Taiwan and I found it quite difficult to adjust when he would be home - now it is more a case of he is either away for a couple of weeks at a time - or home a night, away a night, home a night, away a couple of nights - frustrating at times !

Good work on 30 mins in the gym - it is great that you can go and have a work out.

      Enjoy your weekend !

  6. Wow! I just admire the amount of time you exercise a week! I have a lack of motivation when it comes to exercising especially in winter time...

    1. Thanks Rita - I do find it harder in winter. I bought myself some long sleeve tops which help and what I do is come home, get changed and then decide - for me getting changed is sometimes harder than getting out there and running !
      Have a great weekend.

  7. I think you can cut yourself a little slack about eating when you still get out there and exercise! So hard to eat right at the best of times, let alone when you don't have a routine or are cooking for one. I always joke that if Dan wasn't around expecting a decent meal each night then the kids & I would live off cereal & vegemite toast - but it's not that far from the truth!

Hope you are having a great weekend xx

    1. Thanks Nee - I try not to worry about my eating too much but it becomes all consuming (excuse the pun !!) because I am a 100% or nothing kind of girl ! We did have a cook up on the weekend so now have heaps of meals cooked and in the freezer ready to be defrosted and heated up with some rice.
I hope your weekend was great - so good to have a long weekend !
      Love, hugs and positive energy.
